Occurrence of infectious diseases during the first two years and symptoms of asthma in six-year-old children

Objective: To observe possible association between the occurrence of infectious diseases during first two years life and asthma symptoms in six-year-old children. Methods: Cross-sectional study involving 956 schoolchildren. Asthma were assessed through International Study Allergies Childhood questionnaires. Socio-demographic data, mother-reported child's life, family history breastfeeding included. Multivariate analysis was performed with all significant variables those a p-value <0.20 using Poisson Regression robust estimator. Results: The reported wheezing or whistling chest past 12 months prevalence 18.7%. There found 9% higher at six age children who had respiratory infections life. Children 7% independent breastfed presented 6% lower age. Conclusions: Higher reports whose mothers asthma. Lower observed
